71% Savings at Kroger

If you missed my post earlier this week, I love saving money at Kroger! My grocery shopping trip to Kroger this week was another reminder of how much I love Kroger. I saved 71% or $29.22, spending only $12.14. Here’s what I bought.

Kroger - 8/16/16 - 71% savings

Every single thing I purchased had a digital coupon attached this week. Oops. Okay, the cheese did not but it was a great deal at $2.99 for 16 ounces.

Thanks to digital coupons (several of which could be used up to 5 times in one transaction), I got Lysol wipes for only $0.99. The Herbal Essence 2-in-1 shampoos were $0.50 each. The Hefty quart sized bags were $0.99 and at a perfect time, since I was all out.

The Hormel meal and candy were free, thanks to recent Friday Freebies. Neither of them really seem like something we’ll enjoy, but I can easily donate them for free!

I got the new Peter Pan Simply Ground peanut butter for $0.50, and the Annie’s mac and cheese for $0.50. The Back to Nature mac and cheese were $0.75 each, and I was able to redeem them for a $0.75 Ibotta reward, too.

Thanks to all those digital coupons, as I said, I spent only $12.14 and saved $29.22!

Then, the kids and I went down the road to Meijer. The first thing I did was buy two $50 Meijer gift cards, because for the next couple weeks, you earn $5 back to spend on your next gift card purchase. That’s like free grocery money which I am happy to take!

Then, we bought the rest of the grocery items shown below.

Meijer - 8/16/16

Our tomatoes are growing like crazy in the garden so it’s time to can salsa! I bought 6 pounds of onions, a pound of jalapenos and tomato paste to use in the salsa.

I also bought bananas ($0.64), sweet corn (4 for $1) and 5 pounds of potatoes ($1.49).

Chunk cheese was $1.49 when I used an Mperks coupon. Meijer, like Kroger, allowed you to use this coupon 5 times so I bought 5 packages of cheese. Salami was on sale for $3.99/lb so I bought 1/2 pound for my husband’s lunches.

I also picked up another free 12 pack of Nestea free, thanks to an Mperks free coupon. We don’t drink it so I left it in my car to donate, which is why it isn’t pictured.

At Meijer, I spent $18.58. I also bought an organizing drawer and some school supplies, but I’m not taking those out of our grocery budget.

This week, I spent $30.72 on groceries. That brings my total for August to $191.53 out of $240. Thankfully, I just cashed out $20 in Ibotta (it really is a great coupon app) so that gives me extra grocery money this month. I’m going to use every penny of it, too! 🙂

How did you do with grocery shopping this week? Any great deals – at Kroger or elsewhere?

    1. Thanks, Sarah! Kroger is one of my favorite places to shop, because there are some really good deals there. I’m glad you stumbled across my blog!

  1. Kroger digital coupons– I love them and love Kroger also, however, I learned today that there is a maximum number of coupons you can clip to your card —150!!! I was saddened because of all the great coupons this week!! I had to remove a few so I could add a couple I wanted!!

    1. Ha. This made me laugh, Rebecca, because I actually had to remove some too! I’m used to just loading any that I think I might use, but needed to be a bit more selective. I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves Kroger and their digital coupons! 🙂
