I’m So Glad I Live in a World Where There are Octobers

I love crisp mornings and cool nights. I love cool breezes through open windows. I love the sight of colorful mums sitting on steps by pumpkins. I love drinking hot chocolate made with my frugal chocolate syrup or homemade hot wassail in the morning. Hot chai or hot apple cider fits with the season, too. I love eating pumpkin chocolate chip bread, pumpkin muffins and frosted pumpkin cookies. October is full of amazing sights, tastes and smells!

There’s something about the crisp fall air that rejuvenates me. I feel like I can accomplish most anything and my ambitious to-do list shows that. The reality of how much I accomplish as a pregnant mom of an active 18 month old may prove my list wrong, but fall does make me eager to tackle projects again! October is full of delicious possibilities.

October is a time when we’ve finally settled into our school routines. It’s the time when I look ahead to Thanksgiving and yes, Christmas, with excitement. I can look ahead to the holidays but there is still time to plan ahead. I can enjoy fall while it lasts.

Like Anne of Green Gables said, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

To celebrate that fact, I decided to create an 8×10 with that exact quote. I utilized the free images at Unsplash (one of my favorite image sites) and the free editing at Canva. This is the image that I came up with. I think it’s the perfect fall scene and the perfect fall quote.

Of course, I want to share the joy of October with you all! Feel free to download the above horizontal picture or the below vertical one. They are both 8×10 image size but have slightly different fonts and cropping. Simply right click on either image and save the jpg file to your computer to print.

I’m going to print the horizontal one to hang in our kitchen to celebrate October. Enjoy October while it lasts, dear friends! What makes you glad it’s October?

  1. Oh I am definitely enjoying the fall as well 🙂 At least it is not raining much and I get to just enjoy the colors and still play outside with my 5-year-old. October is definitely very nice for photo shoots as well 🙂

    1. Playing outside with little ones is a lovely perk of fall! It’s been a bit too chilly already in the mornings here, but my toddler loves our afternoon walks and picking up pretty leaves. Happy October to you and your family!

  2. I love the cloudy days that signal cool air and possibly snow. My favorite activity in the fall is going to the pumpkin patch and making a yummy treat with pumpkin. I don’t know if we’ll get to these things with our really busy schedules, but I just love this time of year regardless!

    1. Oh, yes. I do a lot of baking with pumpkin this time of year! We haven’t taken Nathan to a pumpkin patch yet…but it’s on my Fall to-do list! Have a wonderful fall, Charlee!

  3. Wow, what a difference between where we live. I am just thankful that we could finally turn off the A/C. (Although I still hear several of my neighbors have their A/C on.) We are a long time away from hot chocolate. I call these days “free energy days” because I can leave off the A/C and the heat and just open windows. My husband just got some new shorts. My mom couldn’t imagine why he needed shorts now. Nobody in our family is done wearing shorts yet this season! It will feel like October here in November or maybe by December.

    1. Oh, it is so good to turn off the AC. I well remember the days of wearing shorts into November, so enjoy whatever Fall you get! 🙂

  4. I’m with you Kristen! I love October….fall colors are “my” colors. I decorate almost as much for fall as I do for Christmas and love being in my house surrounded by all my favorite fall things. (I even decorate my office at work with fall things!) Even though it is still fairly warm here in October (mid-upper 70s) the nights are usually cool enough to want something warm to drink. And I love all things pumpkin… oh yeah, this is my favorite time of year!

    1. Oh, I’m sure your fall decorations are lovely! Normally, I put up lots of pumpkins too but with Nathan being as active as he is right now, most are staying packed away this fall. Enjoy your pumpkin treats and your fall!
