The basis of the recipe is simple because it starts with the new Barilla® Pronto® Penne. Have you tried this yet? Barilla Pronto pasta is a new idea that allows for one-pan meals to be created easily with no need to wait for water to boil. Plus, there is no draining required. I admit I was skeptical as to how this would work but it worked amazingly well – just like the directions promised.

When you start with the Barilla Pronto pasta, you only need four other ingredients (and 10 minutes!) to make a delicious meal. Simply add a jar of Barilla pasta sauce, a can of petite diced tomatoes, a cup of shredded mozarella cheese and half a block of cream cheese. The cream cheese is the secret ingredient that makes this simple pasta so delicious and creamy!

Even though this recipe calls for only 5 ingredients, you can get as fancy as your heart desires. I think this pasta would make a perfect a date night meal. Make the pasta as shown, but have additional toppings on the table so you and your husband can each customize your pasta. Sausage crumbles, pepperoni slices, chopped olives, diced green peppers, sliced mushrooms…or so many more choices.  That’s why I love this Creamy Pasta recipe. It tastes delicious as is – but the opportunities to make it “wonderful your way” are endless.

The simple recipe card is included below but I just have to tell you that cooking with Barilla Pronto pasta really is a game changer for quick dinners.

You start by adding an entire box of Barilla Pronto Penne into a large skillet and adding 3 cups of water. You set the timer for 10 minutes and bring the water to a boil. By the end of 10 minutes, the water is completely gone and you have perfect al-dente pasta!

Once the pasta is cooked, stir in your pasta sauce, diced tomatoes and cream cheese. Once it’s all mixed together, sprinkle the mozarella cheese on top. Just like that, in a matter of minutes, you have a delicious meal that was made in one pan!  Barilla Pronto pasta saves you time on the cooking and on clean-up. What busy cook doesn’t appreciate that fact?

I bought my Barilla Pronto pasta in the pasta aisle at Kroger. Oh, how I do love my Kroger! It’s my go to place for good deals on delicious foods. Be sure to look carefully for the Barilla Pronto box which has a red stripe and says “One Pan. No Boil. No Drain.” It is located right next to the regular Barilla pasta boxes.
