My Story…

I’m a wife and a stay-at-home Mom to four little ones, who seeks to live a grace-filled frugal life.

I’m a trained early childhood teacher, a LCMS church worker wife, an avid reader, a baker and a bargain seeker. Most importantly, I’m a baptized child of God.

Why is all this important? This is who I am and why I write to share with you.

I met my husband while attending college at Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska – although we didn’t get married until 9 years later. I am thankful every day for the blessing Andy is in my life. We were married in July of 2009.

After years of waiting and praying for a baby, our son was born in March 2014. Our daughter was another blessing born in March 2016, followed by another daughter in March 2018 and another son in 2020. (No, we didn’t plan it this way but we smile at how God’s plans unfolded in our family!) My husband is a Lutheran school teacher, as I was before I began staying at home with our children.

Being a Mom is not easy but I am so thankful for the opportunity to stay at home with my children. It really is true that the days are long but the years are short. As busy as our days are right now, I am striving to cherish these moments of raising little ones.

Our family lives on a tight budget but we are never lacking. We continue to see how God will always provide for His children.  Now that I’m a SAHM, I consider it my job to stretch our pennies and help our family joyfully thrive!

What It’s All About…

Joyfully Thriving is the place where I share simple solutions for your life and home. I write with lots of grace – because it’s hard and none of us can do it perfectly. I share money saving tips and money making ideas, easy recipes and good books, stories of my stay-at-home life, and frugal encouragement in abundance.

My goal in writing is to always provide you with grace filled encouragement on your own motherhood journey.

If you’re visiting for the first time, I hope you’ll take a look around the site. I write about a variety of topics so there is something for everyone! Here are a couple places to get started.

You can read my honest story of how we are surviving and thriving when our income has been cut in half. It doesn’t logically make sense but this is our story.

Learn how I stockpiled 4000 diapers for less than $100 (with step by step instructions so you can do it, too) and how to build a stockpile that saves your family money.

Try some of my favorite, easy recipes like delicious poppyseed chicken, the best ever homemade chocolate frosting or our perfect homemade buckeyes.

Or perhaps you want to learn how to make a priceless gift with this Biblical version of “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.”
