Best Gooey Brownie Recipe You Will Ever Make

For years, I was on a quest to make the best homemade brownies. Each time I tried my husband politely asked me to stick to the store bought box brownies. Then, my sister-in-law shared a gooey brownie recipe with me. Once I baked these, my husband asked me to please make them again! Needless to say, we were hooked.

I have lots of delicious chocolate recipes on this blog because I do love chocolate. So now it’s time to add these decadent brownies to the recipe box! They are simply too good to keep this recipe to myself.

Here’s a couple reasons we – my husband and I, our four kids, and everyone I share this gooey brownie recipe with – love this recipe.

It’s really an easy homemade brownie recipe.

It uses simple pantry ingredients.

I can mix it in one bowl with just a spoon. No mixer required.

It’s quick to make! I can stir up a batch in less than 5 minutes – whenever the brownie craving strikes.

These brownies are rich, chocolately and oh, so, deliciously gooey.

I know some people might prefer brownies that are crispy on the edges. Not me! I want it to be completely soft and gooey. And these brownies? They are exactly what I was looking for. If you are looking for a solid and chewy / crisp brownie, this is not your recipe. This is definitely a gooey brownie recipe.

Have I convinced you that you need to bake these brownies yet?

The original homemade brownie recipe came from Creme de la Crumb, and then I adapted it to come up with this delicious gooey brownie recipe. It is definitely a family favorite!

Here’s how to make your own delicious pan of gooey brownies.

Homemade Gooey Brownie Ingredients:

  • Butter
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • Brown Sugar
  • Sugar
  • Flour
  • Vanilla
  • Eggs
  • Cocoa Powder

See? You probably have everything in your pantry already. If you do, please make these brownies soon!

How to Make Gooey Brownies:

It’s really very simple. I love easy recipes! You can print the recipe card below for exact directions.

You need a microwave safe glass bowl and a spoon.

Melt the butter and chocolate chips in the microwave. Make sure you pour the chocolate chips on top of the butter before you put in the microwave to prevent splattering. Nice little trick!

Then, stir in the rest of the ingredients. Just use a spoon or spatula. No mixer required!

Pour the brownie batter into a greased, glass 9×13 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

Be sure to lick the bowl (my kids favorite part of baking!) and enjoy the delicious batter, while you wait for your brownies to bake!

Your brownies are done when they have a tiny bit of firmness to the middle. You want them to be set but not baked through to keep them gooey. 25 minutes yields perfect results for us. Feel free to adjust the cook time if you like…but I don’t think you will need to!

Additional Brownie Notes:

Allow brownies to cool slightly before serving. You want them cool enough that you don’t burn your mouth, but warm enough to still be gooey. The warmer they are, the more gooey the brownies will be.

As the brownies cool, they will firm up. They are still truly delicious cool, but you can also microwave them 10 to 20 seconds to get the gooeyness back.

Serve ice cream on top of the warm brownies for a truly delicious dessert that will have everyone asking for this brownie recipe.

I’d love to hear what you think after you try this recipe. We’re never going back to boxed brownies again…will you?

  1. Absolutely the best brownie recipe I’ve ever made. Mine weren’t done in 25 minutes–still liquid-runny in the center of the 9×13 pan. But they were gooey-done in 35 minutes. Amazing recipe. Thank you!

  2. I love this recipe, just one downside. Where are we supposed to pour the melted chocolate chips?? I just poured straight into the batter because I didn’t know if it was supposed to go into the batter or as like a glaze on top. But still good!

    1. Yes, you stir the melted chocolate chips into the batter! I melt the chocolate chips with the butter, as the directions say, and then stir in the rest of the ingredients. I’m glad you enjoyed them! They are our favorite brownies!

  4. These are the BEST brownies ever! My husband told me to make these all the time. He couldn’t get enough of them! I like them not only for the taste, but because they are so easy to make. They also have ingredients that I almost always have around the house, so on a whim I can throw them together and have a great dessert!
