Easy Fill in the Blank Birthday Thank You Notes for Kids
I designed these thank you notes to make writing a thank you easier for kids. The words are already started, so your child can focus on making the note personal.
Each fill in the blank note includes space to write:
- Who the thank you note is for,
- What birthday gift your child received, and
- Your child’s name.
Depending on the design, your child can check a box to describe their gift or choose an emoji to show how they felt when they opened it.
On the sports design, for example, they can choose “so cool,” “lots of fun,” or “really great.” The note finishes with, “Thank you for thinking of me and making my birthday so special!”
It keeps the writing short while still acknowledging both the gift and the person who gave it.
Each set includes three signing options: “From,” “Love,” and “Your Friend.” Choose the version that fits the person your child is thanking. “Love” works well for grandparents and family members, while “Your Friend” is a nice option for birthday party friends.
These fill in the blank thank you notes are especially helpful for younger children who can write a few words but are not ready to write a full letter independently.
If your child needs help, you can write the gift’s name on a separate piece of paper for them to copy. For children who are not writing yet, fill in their answers and let them check a box or add their name as best they can.
A thank you note does not need perfect spelling or handwriting to be special. The thought and effort behind it are what matter.
If your child is ready to write independently, each set also includes a blank note card and a lined version. Older kids can write their own message on the lined card, while the blank version leaves room for a handwritten note or drawing.
That gives you five card options in each design: three fill in the blank versions with different closings, one lined card, and one blank card.

Blue Thank You Notes
The blue thank you notes have a similar design to the pink version, with a different color choice.

Rainbow Thank You Notes
For children who love rainbows, this design adds a colorful touch to their birthday thank you notes.

Sports Thank You Notes

Let your child choose one favorite or print a variety. There is no need to use the same design for every person!
How to Use These Printable Birthday Thank You Notes
You only need a few supplies to get started: the free printable, paper or cardstock, scissors, and a pen or pencil.
The notes print two per page, so you can easily print and cut them apart. Each finished note measures 4.5 by 6.25 inches and fits inside an A6 envelope measuring 4.75 by 6.5 inches.

- Choose your card format. Print a fill in the blank version with “From,” “Love,” or “Your Friend,” or choose the lined or blank card.
- Print the pages you need. Cardstock is recommended for sturdier notes, but regular white printer paper works too.
- Cut out the thank you notes.
- Have your child complete the note. Fill in the blanks, check a box, and sign, or write a message on the lined or blank version.
- Deliver the finished notes. Mail them in an A6 envelope or let your child hand them to the people they are thanking.
These are ready-to-print PDF files. You do not need to edit anything on the computer. Simply download, print, and let your child complete the notes by hand!
Save the PDFs so you can print as many copies as you need, for as many children—and as many years—as you like.

Tips for Helping Kids Write Birthday Thank You Notes
A little preparation makes writing thank you notes easier.
Keep a gift list as presents are opened. Write down each gift and who gave it. This is especially helpful after a birthday party when wrapping paper and cards can get separated.
Write a few notes at a time. Younger children may do better with two or three notes in one sitting instead of finishing a whole stack at once.
Talk about the gift before writing. Ask your child what they received and what they like about it. Older children can add an extra sentence about how they plan to use their gift.
Choose the format that fits your child. The fill in the blank notes give beginning writers some help, while the lined and blank versions give independent writers more room to say thank you in their own words.
Let your child do what they can. You can help with spelling or read the choices aloud while still letting them fill in the blanks and check the boxes.
The goal is to help children practice showing appreciation. These notes give them a simple place to start.
